Inner Demons Chapter one: New Beginnings by Miles Morrison |
Chapter one: New BeginningsBen pulled and pushed but could not break free from the cold, icy hands of his attackers, grasping, constricting his arms. In a flurry of action, he was forced back into one of the black leather seats. Bam! A huge fist smacked him across the face and he reeled in pain. He tasted blood. Dazed and confused, he was held down. His eyed began to focus and Ben felt a sharp pain in his left arm like a knife entering his body. A needle and syringe, with God knows what in there. "SHIT!" Ben screeched. He began to flail madly at the men in black suits. White, burning anger coursed through his veins. Pissed off was an understatement. "What did you inject me with? I'll bloody kill you!" His eyes began to un-focus again but he hadn't been hit, no, this was from within him. He felt a cold shiver run down his spine and he had a numb headache. The man shocked him with a tazer gun and an almighty jolt went through him. "Get this piece of crap out of here," one of the men whispered. Whack! He was thrown out of the car and on to the sidewalk. He lay sprawled on the frosty, hard ground and as the masses gathered close to him the car sped away into the distance. The rain beat down on his crushed body and the darkness became more significant. "No amount of money is worth this," he muttered. The men in suits had broken the fragile shell of his existence and he was in a world of misery and pain. He thought about how cruel humans can be. He thought about where he would rather be… "Lying on a beach in New Miami, eating a bag of chips and Grkhep sauce. Far away from this horrible place." The rain beat down on his crushed body and the darkness drowned him. Recommended Reading:How to Write Science Fiction and Fantasy by Orson Scott Card |
