Hypnosis - How to Hypnotize Yourself
|
- Find a nice quiet place where you will not be disturbed.
- Stare at anything that is at eye-level continuously, a black dot on
a white background is good or a candle flame.
Take three deep breaths and suggest to yourself as you stare
at the dot or flame, ‘The more I stare at this dot/flame, the heavier
my eyes will become; they will become heavier and heavier until I will
not be able to keep them open. I am going into self-hypnosis for ten minutes.’
You can choose your own set time for self-hypnosis.
- When your eyes close say to yourself, ‘I am completely relaxed
now.’ Steadily relax every part of your body then say, ‘Every
muscle in my body is totally relaxed, even if I wanted to I could not
move them.’ You will now be in the first
stage of hypnosis, the lethargic stage.
- Imagine that you are at the top of some steps in whatever scenery relaxes
you and mentally walk down the steps counting backwards, you will go deeper
and deeper into a trance-like state.
- Imagine that the steps lead you down to your most relaxing place in
the universe, a place in your house, a beach with gentle waves lapping
at the sand, or even atop a rainbow for instance. You will now be in stage
two of hypnosis.
- You can stay in this spot for as long as you wish, there is no harm
in stopping here if you like. Once you have decided on the location of
your special place, think of a word that best describes it for you, something
like ‘tranquillity’. This will become your trigger word, a
sort of personal mental key to your special place. When you hypnotize
yourself in the future you can use your keyword or words to instantly
reach the same spot you created in your mind, it will be permanently accepted
by your subconscious.
- When you want to come out of your trance tell yourself, ‘as I
count from three down to one I will come out of self-hypnosis feeling
refreshed, fully awake with energy and vitality.’ It is important
to say the last part to prevent yourself from feeling dazed and having
a slight headache.
- Count to yourself; ‘one, slowly coming out; two, coming out;
three, wide awake.’
- You will now be back in the waking world feeling rejuvenated.
