The Magical Influence of Planets

It is thought that electrical radiation from planets produces cellular change in the human body. The use of gems is recommended to counteract the negative effects of certain planets in certain positions in the solar system. The positive effects of the gem last as long as a particular planet wields its influence over an individual. As the planets are always on the move, it is thought that one should change one’s stones according to the movement of the planets.

All of gems, apart from red coral and rubies, should be soaked in milk for three hours to remove impurities. Red coral should be soaked in soapy water, and rubies in lemon juice for three hours respectively. You may wish to work with a particular stone on a certain day; or perhaps a stone that represents the day of the week you were born.

Planetary Gems

Planetary gems are seen as condensations from the cosmic rays, each reflecting the powers of the corresponding planet. The colours of the cosmic rays are reflected in each gem that reflects light at the same wavelength as its associate planet. The cosmic colours do not always match those seen by the naked eye. There are two extra planets, called shadow planets, in Indian astrology known as Rahu (the dragon’s head) and Ketu (the dragon’s tail), which are omnipresent, in light – humans, animals, and all of nature are subject to the rays. These planetary rays transmit themselves to us through the EM (electromagnetic) energy field. For this reason it is believed that gemstones similarly possess the power of creation, maintenance and destruction.

Hands and Fingers

Each hand and finger is said to be associated with different planetary forces, so it is important to know (if you want to follow this belief) which forces apply to which hands and which fingers, if you are going to wear gems as rings.

The right hand is associated with masculine planets, and heat, such as the Sun, Mars and Jupiter. Gemstones worn on the right hand project their energy outwards.

The left hand is associated with the female planets, and coolness, such as the Moon and Venus. Gemstones worn on the left hand absorb the energies, drawing them inwards.

Gemstones for Mercury, Saturn, Rahu and Ketu can be worn on either hand.

Mars’ gemstones should be worn on the Index or Ring Finger.

Venus’ gemstones should be worn on the middle or little finger. Rahu’s and Ketu’s gems should be worn on the middle or little finger.

  • Index Finger
    • Jupiter
  • Middle Finger
    • Saturn
  • Ring Finger
    • Sun and Moon
  • Little Finger
    • Mercury

Gemstones balance the temperature in the body. Male planets, the Sun, Mars and Jupiter, are considered hot planets, and their cosmic colours are red, yellow and blue. The female planets are the Moon, Mercury, Venus and Saturn, and their cosmic colours are orange, green, indigo and violet, seen as cold forces. If someone has a fever, cold forces should be used; pearl (Moon), diamond (Venus) or blue sapphire (Saturn), those gemstones associated with cool planets.

Friends

There are two planetary groups of friends. The Sun, Moon, Mars and Jupiter are friends. Mercury, Venus, Saturn, Rahu and Ketu are friends. The two groups are considered enemies, and therefore the Sun does not get along with Saturn, Venus, Rahu and Ketu, so a ruby should not be worn with a blue sapphire, diamond, hessonite or cat’s eye. There is one exception though, the Nava-Ratna is a beautiful nine-stone setting. In addition, friendly planets can share the planetary finger in their group.
